POSITION OVERVIEW:
The primary role of the Production Team Lead is to coordinate daily line activities for the area/s they are responsible for, and act as the main point of contact for other departments to ensure that all aspects of manufacturing on the designated line (business unit) are covered. The secondary role of the Team Lead is to provide on-the-line support for the shift crew and provide inspection, direction, supervision, training and support to the team in a manner that creates engagement and productivity within the team and the facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
LABOUR PLANNING & TRACKING:
- Ensure that coverage is provided for breaks and all staff maintain a break rotation.
- Provide progress reports at weekly team meetings.
- Arrange and lead one Tool Box meeting per week addressing:
- Safety focus for the week
- GMP (Food safety focus for the week)
- Customer complaints/quality issues
QUALITY & SAFETY:
- Ensure that GMP's (pre-requisite programs) are understood and followed by all team members. This includes all processing, maintenance, and sanitation activities in business unit including SOP's, documentation, safe work practices, and the appropriate use of personal practices to maintain food safety.
- Identify operational cleaning and sanitation checklists. Provide verification of GMP's in a documented checklist format as a pre-operational checklist prior to commencing daily manufacturing activities.
- Respond to all quality issues by leading and/or participating in a root cause analysis of the issue and the development of the corrective action that will prevent the issue from re-occurring.
- Ensure GMP's and SOP's are clear, trained to, and practiced to minimize errors, make "it right the first time", reduce or eliminate waste and re-work.
- To avoid injuries, ensure all staff on the line understand and practice safe methods of completing assigned tasks. This includes wearing personal protective devices (I.E. eye wear, ear plugs, chemical gloves) as well as applying safe work practices (I.E. proper lifting techniques, lock-out/tag-out, appropriate use of knives).

REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrates leadership ability and interpersonal skills that engage employees, create a team environment, drive employee productivity and competence, and achieve business unit goals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the proven ability to communicate one-on-one and in group settings.
- Focus on quality including the development and adherence to Quality Policy and standard operating procedures that create business unit efficiencies.
- Maintains updated knowledge and strong technical expertise of HACCP, GMPs and FSSC standards, regulations, and practices.
- Flexible and controlled under crisis situations.
- Knowledge & application of lean manufacturing principles
- Problem solver with solid analytical skills and the ability to trouble shoot as the need arises.
- 1-2 years of progressive production manufacturing experience (preferably food production plant) in a supervisory capacity.
- Highly organized with excellent time management/priority setting skills, and knows how to make the right decisions.
- Experience in a culturally diverse work environment.
- Available to work flexible shifts, weekends occasionally. Training will be Mon-Friday morning shift but schedule will primarily be 3-11pm shift with weekends
- 90% production, 10% office environment
