SUMMARY
Reporting to the CEO, the Events Manager is responsible for the planning, execution and financial management of a diverse range of business-related events and training opportunities throughout the year.
Primary Responsibilities
- Take a lead role in the planning, execution and financial management of approx. 50 Chamber events per year, with a view to delivering value, driving membership and revenue growth. - Liaise with team members to determine event themes, formats etc. and to ensure that all events are appropriately defined and marketed. - Successfully solicit sponsorship and in-kind support for events as required. - Build and maintain strong relationships within the community. - Other projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRMENTS
Be reliable
- At least 3 years experience in event project management. - Ability to work independently, think creatively, and strategically. - Strong administrative skills and impeccable attention to detail. - Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. - Knowledge of web content management software an asset
Be responsive
- A sound knowledge of the Whistler business community. - Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. - A strong interest on conducting research e.g. Member input, business information, to determine project themes, keynote speakers, facilitators etc.
Build relationships
- Strong interpersonal skills, with proven ability to build relationships and strategic alliances. - Strong sales and customer service focus. - Ability to work in a small, cross-functional team environment
Working Culture
- Permanent, full-time role. - Flexibility to work evenings and on weekends as per event requirements. - Primarily office environment with some field work required as per event requirements.
