ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT
Position Type: Full Time 35 Hrs week

Job Description Summary:
- Accounts Payable Process - Bank Reconciliations - Assist with payroll, month ends and year end procedures - Data entry - Operations of; Sage- Acc Pac Program, use of Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook, Skype, photo-copier, scanner, fax and other office equipment when required. - Adherence to company policies and maintain internal control procedures
Role and Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate accounts payable account balances (including posting payments, applying prepayments, and account adjustments). - Administer the accounts payable process. - Investigate and reconcile discrepancies between purchase orders and vendor invoices for incorrect charges with department heads and vendors, if required. - Using Excel spread sheets for reconciliation purposes - Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions. - Reconciling accounts payable sub-ledgers to control account, monthly. - Ensuring vendor costs are correctly coded to applicable departments. - Ensure taxes are coded to applicable ledger accounts - Analyze, prepare and submit annual GST remittances, adhering to required codes. - Maintains historical records via filing. - Apply the above accounts payable duties to assist all department supervisors. - Assist with payroll procedures when needed. - Perform duties as assigned by the Finance Officer and Band Management.
EXPERIENCE WITH SAGE-ACC PAC SOFTWARE - AN ASSET
Additional Notes
Bi-weekly work schedule Monday through Friday 8:30 - 4:30 pm.
(lunch hour 12:00 - 1:00pm)
